  Saw it last night. The opening set piece alone is worth the price of admission. I genuinely held my breath for four straight minutes. That hasn't happened to me in a cinema since the highway scene in FD2, and I don't care if that makes me a nostalgia case — it WORKED.

  I work in a cinema and I can tell you, the audience reactions to this film are unlike anything we've had in months. People are clapping at the deaths. Genuinely applauding. That's either a sign the movie is great or a sign we should all examine ourselves.

  Can we appreciate that this is an original horror IP making money in 2025. Not a remake, not a superhero property, not IP from a book series. A studio bet on its own catalogue and it landed. That alone should make people happy.

  Hot take: Final Destination 5 is actually the best film in the franchise and Bloodlines doesn't come close. The ending of FD5 is one of the most perfectly constructed payoffs in horror history and literally nothing in Bloodlines matches it. Fight me.

  I read that the writers consulted with actual structural engineers and safety experts to make the death chains more plausible. Whether that's a PR stunt or not, there's something deeply funny about a room of engineers being asked 'how could a rotary fan realistically cause a building collapse'

  My friend dragged me to see this and I am not a horror person at all. I spent half the film staring at my shoes. But even I have to admit the pool scene had the entire auditorium screaming and then laughing at themselves for screaming. That communal experience is genuinely rare.

  The 'bloodline' concept actually does add something the other films lacked — stakes that feel personal rather than random. When death is coming for your family specifically, the tension has a different texture. I was genuinely invested in the characters surviving, which I cannot say about FD4 or 5.

  My honest review: the first hour is exceptional. The second hour is fine. The ending is rushed and raises questions the film doesn't answer. That's a 7/10, not the 9/10 some people are throwing around. Great fun, not a great film.

  I think we need to be honest with ourselves. The premise of Final Destination has a hard ceiling. Death has a design, someone sees it, people die anyway in elaborate ways. That's the entire movie. There is no 'back.' There is only varying quality of death choreography.

  Horror as a genre gets unfairly dismissed when we talk about craft. The logistics of designing a death sequence that's simultaneously believable, surprising, and darkly funny is genuinely difficult filmmaking. Bloodlines does this well more often than it fails and that deserves recognition.

  i keep seeing people say this is the best since FD2 and respectfully FD2 set an unreachable bar. the pile-up scene is literally in film textbooks. comparing anything to that is setting bloodlines up to disappoint you

  The thing that made the original special was that it came out of nowhere with a genuinely novel premise. You can't replicate that novelty six films in. Bloodlines is well-executed but it's covering very familiar ground and I don't think that deserves the level of praise it's getting.

  The meta-commentary in this one is surprisingly sharp. Without spoiling anything, there's a moment in the third act where the film seems aware of its own formula and almost winks at the audience, then immediately uses that moment to gut-punch you. That's clever writing.

  I think the reason reactions are split is generational. People who saw the originals in theatres as teenagers have a physical memory of that fear response and Bloodlines triggers it again. People coming to this fresh just see a moderately entertaining horror film. Both experiences are valid but they produce wildly different reviews.

  the 'bloodline' mechanic is actually the smartest retcon since Halloween 2018. instead of feeling like a sequel it feels like a secret the franchise was always building toward. whether thats true or not doesnt matter, the illusion works

  Franchise films that return after a long gap almost never recapture what made the originals work. It's happened with Scream, Halloween, Ghostbusters. Bloodlines follows the same pattern — competent, familiar, commercially motivated, ultimately hollow.

  people saying the CGI is bad clearly haven't watched the original recently. go back and look at that bus scene in HD. practical effects age, CGI ages faster, horror was always gonna use whatever the budget allows. the deaths are creative, that's the point

  The problem is the lead character. I didn't believe her premonition face. There's a specific kind of traumatized-but-functional energy that Ali Larter had in the first film that this actress never quite finds. It's a small thing but it undermines every scene that requires emotional weight.

  The CGI on some of the deaths is noticeably worse than FD5, which came out over a decade ago. Budget clearly went to marketing. I don't understand how this isn't being talked about more.
