Watching anime dubbed instead of subbed: disrespecting the art or just common sense?
Subs purists say dubs butcher the original performance. Dub fans say they can actually watch the screen instead of reading it. Which side are you really on?

Add your commentIt's not 'just common sense', it's literally what the studio, voice director and original cast intended. That's the art. Respect it.
Subs gatekeepers love to forget that reading text means you miss half the animation you claim to worship. Watch the screen, not the bottom bar.
People act like dub actors aren't artists too. The amount of talent in modern English dubs is insane and y'all just won't admit it.
I'm dyslexic. Dubs are the only reason I can enjoy anime at all. Every 'subs only' purist is telling people like me to just not watch.
Honestly the real answer is 'whatever gets you watching anime', but that's boring so let's keep fighting.

Anyone who says dubs are unwatchable hasn't seen a bad sub translation mistranslate the entire plot of an episode.
The dub vs sub war is the most exhausting fandom debate alive and yet here I am, ready to die on this hill again. Subs. Obviously.
Watching subbed and pretending you understand Japanese nuance from a fan translation is its own kind of cope.
There is no version of 'Plus Ultra' or 'Tatakae' that hits the same in English. Some lines were born in Japanese and die in translation.
Cowboy Bebop dub is better than the sub and I will say that into a megaphone outside your house.
