Add your commentNobody is giving up anything. But let's be honest — when the Dodgers are in the playoffs the entire city shuts down. Restaurants have the game on. Traffic is different. The energy is citywide. I have never once felt that for an Angels postseason run and I lived in Long Beach for fifteen years. Cultural footprint matters and the Dodgers win that argument without breaking a sweat.
Born and raised in Boyle Heights, and I'm sorry but the Dodgers ARE Los Angeles. My grandfather listened to Vin Scully on the radio before I was even born. The Angels play in ANAHEIM. That's not LA. That's not even close to LA. You can love your team but don't come for our identity.
Counterpoint to everyone who keeps saying geography settles it: the LA Rams play in Inglewood, the Lakers play in Inglewood, half the "LA" teams dont even play IN LA proper. The city is a metro area. Angels fans are Southern California fans. Give it a rest.
The Angels were actually founded as a Los Angeles team in 1961 and played at Wrigley Field on Avalon Boulevard right here in the city. Look it up before you act like they have zero LA roots. The Anaheim move came later. History matters.
I grew up in Anaheim Hills and the Angels were everything to us. Rally Monkey. Glaus. Erstad diving in the dirt. Those 2002 games were electric and I watched every inning with my whole family. To sit here and read Dodger fans act like we dont exist or dont matter is honestly insulting. Orange County is 3 million people. We count.
My dad took me to my first Dodgers game in 1987 and I cried when Kirk Gibson hit that homer the next year even though I was only four and barely understood what was happening. My kids wear Dodger blue now. That kind of generational thing just doesnt exist the same way with the Angels and Im not saying that to be mean its just true.
Respectfully? Angels fans should give up on the LA debate not the baseball. Trout is the greatest player alive and he plays for a team that acts like being good on the field is enough without any actual front office ambition. The whole franchise is depressing. Root for the team, but stop arguing about geography, it's a distraction from the real problems in Anaheim.
ok i moved here from chicago two years ago and honestly the angels games are way more chill and affordable?? dodger stadium is gorgeous but parking alone costs like half my rent. just saying as someone with fresh eyes the angels fanbase is underrated

Fun fact the Angels technically haven't been called the Los Angeles Angels since they changed the name to Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim which a court actually ruled they were ALLOWED to do because it misleads nobody since Anaheim is in the greater LA area. So even legally the "what counts as LA" argument is more complicated than Dodger fans want to admit. Just throwing that out there.
